Dhoni and Gambhir played slowly and added 53 for the 2nd wicket in 43 balls. Dhoni was bowled by Islam when he came down the track and missed the line. At the end of 17 overs, India were 140 for 3. Yuvaraj hit 3 sixes in an over and accelerated the scoring rate. His firing 41 off 18 balls had 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Yuvaraj innings provided Indian an opportunity to go beyond 170 mark. The Pathan brothers remaining not out and added 11 in the last 3 balls of the innings to set Bangladesh a target of 181.
Though Bangladesh started well, they could not maintain the tempo and also retain wickets. Siddique smashed Zaheer and Irfan Pathan and utilized the powerplay. Hasan and Siddique were dismissed in the first over of Ojha. Hasan trying to pull the first ball played it early and hit in the air. Dhoni moved few steps and took the easy catch. In the fifth ball, Siddique hit it over square leg to give a simple catch to Bhajji. Siddique was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 41 coming off 22 balls.
Bangladesh never came back in the match after the fall of Siddique as the skipper also did not score much.
Though Yuvaraj Singh's innings gave a good total to India, Ojha's 4 for 21 helped him clinch the man of the match award.
